new drill
By jelly | September 16, 2008
My cordless drill of 10 years packed it in on the weekend.
One of the batteries died a few months back and now the other one packed it in. Rather than buying two new batteries (if I could find them which is doubtful since they don’t make the drill anymore) I bought a new drill
Its a very small Ridgid 12v Lithium ION drill

So far I’m very happy with it, I haven’t done to much but it has alot of power, and they say the lithium ION battery will last 1.7 times that of the previous 12v batteries. The small size is very handy getting into tight spaces.

carpet
By jelly | September 16, 2008
We are getting some new carpet at the house today. One of the rooms has carpet thats about 9 years old. Its the room we are in the most and it used to have our front door so its very worn and has alot of stains on it. From kids and dogs.
We are purchasing a new carpet that home depot carries, the best thing about it is that it is supposedly stain resistant, so much so that they guarantee it to be stain free for life.

status
By jelly | September 15, 2008
so I’m doing good without the coffe and my body is much better for it.
Beer not doing so good
although I think I’ve convinced myself that beer only on the weekends
Fast food I’m doing good but I’m going to have to go to target again today and load up on everything I need for the week.
I went to lifetime fitness on wednesday for a 2 hour workout, including a 30 minute run
I also went on a 2mile hike on saturday, carrying a 50lb child for probably half of it.
and a run and wind sprints on sunday.

healthy
By jelly | September 9, 2008
I’m going to make a very big effort this week, and maybe longer to see if I can be much healthy this week.
First a list of things that I’m going to give up.
1. Coffee (I drink it at work out of habit, I’m going to see if it helps my sleep paterns to give this up)
2. Fast food. (I stopped this a few weeks back but last week fell back into it)
3. Beer (O_o this might be the hardest but I’m not giving up drinking
just drinking beer
Now things I’m going to add.
1. Juice, specifically juice blends that have a lot of nutrients, like naked juice, see what this does to my digestive system.
2. Working out, (get back to lifetime fitness, I went on the weekend and am determined to go 2-3 times per week)
3. Yogurt, using this as a snack instead of less healthy alternatives.
That’s it for now, we will see how it plays out.

secuirty systems for the office
By jelly | September 9, 2008
We are currenlty getting our security system modified, so that we have card key access instead of just key access. What this will allow us to do is to have people set their own hours. If someone wants to come in early and leave early they can. If they want to come in late and leave late, they can.
If they need to come in on a weekend they can. All without having to mess around with giving them keys and giving them alarm codes.
The change is expensive, I think around $5000.00 however I think I will make that up very quickly in productivity. Numerous times I have the situation where the last person with a key is leaving, but some employees are still working, they are then forced to leave. Now they can stay and finish what they want.

blog updates
By jelly | September 8, 2008
I am really going to try to update this thing more now.
I’m trying to get everything up and running at the house.
I think we are done with the garden, except for the sitting area and the pond, however I think they may wait until spring as there is little point completing them for winter.
Next I have a flat tire on the tractor, this needs to get fixed before the snow flies so I can plow out the road.
Go Kart, I bought a new battery for it but the juice is not getting to the starter, I need to put the multimeter on it so that I can figure this one out.
Garage door opener, I need to install the one on my side of the garage so I can park in it. I parked inside yesterday since there was a threat of hail. This morning it was 40 degrees outside when I left the house, I was very happy to be able to get into a warm truck rather than a cold one.
Grading the driveway and get a load of rock. I need to figure out this asap before the snow flies, or we are going to have a muddy mess. My biggest problem is I have drainage on the south side of hte driveway and every slopes across. Ideally I would put in a culvert but I don’t think I have the time or resources to rent a ditch witch and put this in.
Now the newest thing is get the front step mudjacked, the soil has settled. so the walk is off the ground and the cement is cracking, this needs to be done asap so that the cement doesn’t break. The builder should be fixing this but he says its erosion, which is a load of crap because if so where did the soil go, also there is a exact impression of the walk way under it, meaning the shape of the walkway is still in the dirt underneath as a nice cut out, if it was erosion this would have been smoothed over.

the Skunk is dead
By jelly | September 8, 2008
well at least one of them is.
There was a dead skunk at the end of the road this morning. Hopefully, however I doubt it, that this was the only one around so now I don’t have to worry about the dogs getting into them anymore.

skunk
By jelly | August 22, 2008
Last night about 9:30 just as I was getting ready for bed, all of a sudden my eyes started to water and my mouth turned really dry. Then the smell hit me, skunk and not just a wiff of skunk this was a direct shot.
we were also running the attic fan at this time trying to cool off the house, so it immediately filled the entire house with stink. I quickly turned it off and closed the windows but it was to late. I then went out side and found one dog rolling around in the front yard obviously trying to get something off it it. The other dog I could not find was barking madly at something. I later found him overtop of a window well. Inside the window well was a little skunk. One dog soaked, another one with just a little bit. but skunk smell all over.
I don’t think I’ll get much sleep tonight with that smell everywhere
