weekend

By jelly | April 13, 2009

Weekend was kind of a flop for me. I had beers on Friday, only 2, and then I went skating, however not much exercise since I was skating with my daughter.

saturday and sunday I didn’t drink at all and ate pretty good. however since it was snowing all weekend, I didn’t get much exercise. I did a little with the kettle bells last night but that was about it.

I’ll see what happens this week. I didn’t have time to shop for lunch today so I had quiznos, but at least that is better than other fast food places… I think :)

another day

By jelly | April 8, 2009

so day 2 came and went, I went for a 3 mile walk at lunch that was good, although I wish we had better walking trails out here. It wasn’t bad but I’ll keep looking.
Lunch was not fast food and no alcohol or coffee for me. in the afternoons I’m really getting tired. I don’t know if that is my body being used to the caffeine or not but I hope it starts getting better. It was honestly a struggle staying awake in the afternoon.

The night I got a bad headache. I don’t know what for but I’m not going to think too hard about it unless it starts happening alot.

I woke up to oatmeal again today, this definitely helps hunger in the morning. I’m going to try to find something in the way of exercise to do during lunch hour.

weight this morning was 199.2

day 1 is over

By jelly | April 7, 2009

So I’m trying again to see if I can get in better shape and see how I feel
yesterday I had no coffee (I think I usually have about 8-10 lattes :) )
yesterday I had no alcohol (I usually have at least one (double) hard drink and a few beers)
yesterday I made advocado and turkey wraps instead of my all too normal double cheesburgers from either burger king or mcdonalds.
last night I didn’t do too much exercise but I did do about 15 minutes of tossing around the kettle bell doing clean all kinds of presses. my back and shoulder are a little sore today so I did get some exercise in.
I drank alot of water instead of the coffee and beer. which doesn’t taste nearly as good ;-) . I really need to find a good alternative beverage, I don’t want to switch out coffee to some sugary beverage.

When I got home last night he daughter wasn’t home yet so dinner was later…. to hold my self over I ate chips, not good :( . anyhow I weighed myself this morning and I weighed 199.5lbs. not a bad weight, I mainly just want to loose the belly so I’m not that interested in the weight as much as the inches. I think that I’ll have to get down to about 185 to see the belly that I want.

I started today with a bowl of low cal oatmeal. hopefuly that will jump start the metabolism. I’m planning on either going skating or walking at lunch. So hopefully that will help. I’d love to go running at lunch however I don’t have a place to shower.

weekend

By jelly | April 6, 2009

Well I went skating on the weekend. Not alot of skating, only for about 10 minutes after my girls lessons but one thing I figured out is. I can’t skate like I used to. I’ve skated once in about 8 years so its not that surprising but I wasn’t as stable as I used to be. I can skate fine, speed, control turning is not a problem. Mostly when I’m standing still and just moving around I feel unstable. It maybe the time, or that I just got new skates, or maybe even just a tentative thing.

I’m going to try to go skating at least one lunch hour this week, maybe two, maybe on my own I can get back into it to where I can get to a point I can play hockey again.

denver stock show

By jelly | January 20, 2009

I went to the denver stock show on the weekend. Since I’ve lived here now for 10 years I was surprised I never went. Probably because I never knew exactly what it was. I assumed it was just 4h kids showing sheep and cows.

I really had fun at it. I don’t know anything specific but it was a good time, I didn’t get to go through all of the trade show floor which had some very interesting things in it. but I did see enough that it would be a good thing to go to again. There are petting zoos, lots of animals to see. Events, picture opportunities.

The reason we went was for the super dogs show. It was good but I was a little disappointed with it. I don’t know what I was expecting but it was hard to see alot of it and the dogs are so fast that everything is over and done with so quick. The one thing I thought was cool was the weave polls. I also liked that they had a lot of different types of dogs. Obviously the border collies see to be the fastest at everything but they don’t fill the show with them, they had Burmese mountain dogs and English sheep dogs as well. Also its cool that 1/2 the dogs are rescue dogs.

They do have one amazing dog, not sure on the breed, that can jump what looks to be almost 6′ in the air. I’ve had dogs that could jump over 6′ fences but they would jump get their front paws on the top of the fence then pull themselves over. This dog cleared it without touching and without much run up either.

As a whole I did like the show. Parking is expensive, we paid $15.00 from a company on the back side to park, but everything insides was reasonable.

mint.com

By jelly | January 14, 2009

I read something this morning regarding a website called mint.com. After registering and logging in I found that it is a personal finance manager. The weird part about it is that it asks for all of your banking and CC logins and then pulls all of the info and consolidates it.
At first to say I was apprehensive about giving them this info was an understatement but after some research I found that it is quite safe or at least appears to be. I am not working on updating everything on it and we will see how it turns out.

snowy roads

By jelly | January 12, 2009

Woke up this morning to a surprise. Snow. I didn’t think there was much on the ground so I set off assuming the roads would be fine. I was wrong. high winds and lots of snow made the roads probably as bad as I have every seen. I didn’t have any problems but on some hills on my way I encountered cars and small trucks who couldn’t make it up the hills. This people fishtailing and others driving too fast caused people to go into the ditch to try to avoid them.

I was about 200 yards from my office, thinking man what an ugly drive but at least I’m here when all of a sudden I encountered the idiot of idiots. While I am following a car, he is probably 15 feet in front of me, a truck decided he couldn’t wait and turned left so he tried to turn in between us. It forced me to lock up the brakes and I managed to stop 1″ from his passenger door. He was in a dually truck and I had to backup before he could go again because I was inside of his rear fenders. I really hate stupid people.

lifetime fitness

By jelly | January 7, 2009

I’ve cancelled my membership at lifetime fitness. I have nothing bad to say about the club but I just didn’t seem to have enough time to get there and get in shape. After 3 months of not going I decided my 150 per month could be spent better elsewhere.

The biggest problem for me is that its 20 minutes from my house. I thought I would go in the morning before work but I’m not sleeping that well these days so getting up at 4 didn’t seem like an option. On the weekend, I didn’t like the idea of driving 20 minutes, exercise for 2 hours, then shower and drive 20 minutes back. It would take up the whole day. I think I’ll pocket the money for a few months and then maybe buy a tread mill for the house and see if that works better. I might also see if there is a cheap gym by my office, then I could go work out at lunch and have a shower. I’m usually looking for something to do at lunch so it might work out good.
