Blackberry Bold and Tmobile
By jelly | July 1, 2008
I’m still waiting for a time frame for this, As much as I like my curve I also want to see the bold and see how it works. Although I use my blackberry for 70% email 29% phone and 1% everything else I’m curious about having a gps in it, if it works good, and some of the other features that come with bold.
Tmobile please tell me when you are going to release this.

E85 is now not worth it.
By jelly | June 30, 2008
Its still a little cheaper but not by much.
With E85 I get 13.5mpg / $2.70 per gallon, so 5 miles for $1.00
with Reg UL I get 17.5mpg / $3.75 per gallon, so 4.66 miles for $1.00
Definitely not worth while to buy E85 right now, and thats will all the subsidies they are giving the industry. If they didn’t have that it would be way more than gas.

moving trees
By jelly | June 26, 2008
Well I’m a little bit upset. Last year at the start of our addition we had 7 trees relocated so we would not loose them. This cost $100 per tree to have done, they have all now died. The weirdest part is they lived fine all last year in there new locations and all through the winter and only died this year in the spring.

Want a free Blackberry
By jelly | June 24, 2008
Any model you want just register and make a post over at Crackberry.com And if they draw your name they will buy you a shiny new device, any type you want.
If I win (or should I say when) I’m going to wait until the bold comes out on Tmobile and then get it for free.

Cooling house
By jelly | June 23, 2008
Well the whole attic fan does a pretty good job of getting the house cool, however what it doesn’t do is when its really hot out side, in the 90’s the house heats up alot during the day. What they say is to turn it on in the morning and cool the house down, which I do down to about 70 however it doesn’t take too long for the house to heat up with the sun beating down on it all day. By the end of the day we are up around 80-82 upstairs which is kind of unbearable. After the sun goes down the temp drops and we can turn the fan on then to pull in all the cool air and it cools off quite quickly however if you are stuck in the house all day its not that comfortable.
Don’t get me wrong its much better than without it, but not perfect.
Next thing they tell you is to open a window in the basement and draw up the basement cool air into the house, this works pretty good however when its 90 degrees out side the temp in the basement climbs very fast. It takes about 30 minutes to get the basement from 68 to 78 at those temps.
To try to get this to work better what I have done is take my old evaporative cooler, which is a big window one, and put it in a basement window. With the additon I don’t have an upstairs room to put it in like we used to so I didn’t think I could use it. Of course cold air doesn’t rise so basically this only cools off the basement, however used with the whole house fan, you get a steady stream of very cool air up the basement stairs. I used this yesterday which wasn’t too hot, about 85, and I sucessfully cooled the main living room back to 72 degrees. I’ll have to keep trying this to see how it works out on really hot days.

BES brick phones
By jelly | June 22, 2008
We had to brick one of my colleges blackberries last week with the BES. Apparantly the blackberry is on its way back but I’m curious when it comes back what the brick process actually does to it. What information if any you can still get off the phone to try to find its owner. The person who found it, and is sending it back, they say, did get ahold of someone in the US that was in the users contact list, so I can assume that they can still get that but who knows.

Sheep herding dogs
By jelly | June 16, 2008
I went and watched a competition this weeked from sheep herding dogs and I was truly amazed. They were so well trained.
In the competition that I watched, 3 sheep were up on a hill, probably about a 1/4 - 1/2 mile away, a person walks with their dog to a post at the bottom of the hill. The person cannot leave this spot, then he sends his dog up the hill to get the sheep. The dog must go get them, bring them down the hill, around the person and push them out to the left and then through a gate, then way out to the right and through a gate. then back to the middle and in a pen.
The person uses a series of whistles that tell the dog what to do. From what I could grasp, one whistle means bring to me, one means left, one means right and means lay down. And the coolest to watch was 2 quick blasts which means stop them. Because some times the sheep are in full run and the handler blows 2 quick whistles and the dog takes off trying to get around them and stop them before they run out of bounds.
I did see once where the sheep were pushed out of bounds and the dog just kept chasing them rather than stopping them, this caused alot of excitement when the sheep were approaching the highway.
Another cool thing was what I called the ringer dogs. I don’t know who there were but when the competing dog had the sheep in the pen the handler would call them off, as soon as they did that another dog would run out all on his own to the field and as soon as the sheep came out of that pen he would herd them into the big pen where the sheep waited for the next competition.
It was very cool and I would reccomend it to anyone.
