Dish Network

By jelly | November 15, 2008

Dish network came today and hooked everything up.  Their installer was very nice and polite.  He hooked up all the rooms and everythign worked fine.  I didn’t have any hdmi cables for installation so I had to buy them from him.  I was afraid he would rape me on the cost but happily enough they were on $20.00 each.  I could buy them for cheaper on the net but thats about what I would pay in the store so thats more than fair.

Tv’s look fantastic in HD, The picture and sound is awesome and now I love them.

Had one small problem with the dish network as the guide wasn’t updating so when we were trying to set up recordings of our favorite shows they were not being found by the search.  30 minutes with tech support and they had me do a switch test and now everythign works great.  I’m very happy with the setup now as I have tv in the bedroom, and dvr in the great room and basement.

I also like the new hardware, I think on my tivo/DTV setup I got about 60 hours worth of programming before it started deleting shows.  I also never liked that it didn’t tell you how much room you have, it just would start to delete things and thats how you knew you were full.  on the Dish I get 350 hours of regular or 60 hours of HD.  And it shows you exactly what you have so its much easier to work with.  Also they allow you to attach a external hard drive so you can bump up the space by and extra TB if you want.  I wonder what they store the files as, I guess it would be too much to ask to be in a format that I could unplug it from the receiver and plug it into my computer :)
