Finally
By jelly | March 25, 2008
Well I have finally gotten my computer set up on Ubuntu and this is the actual first post from linux. I shouldn’t say I got my computer up and running I never could get it to work, however I think I know why now as yesterday my MB, PSU and keyboard all packed it in, when I break it I really break it. Anyway I had another computer laying around so I got to work. First I dropped my existing SATA HD into it, I was very worried about this as there was alot of data on it that I needed, luckily Vista recognized all the new hardware and set everything up. It was very easy and everything was recovered.
After getting caught up from my whole day of downtime, I fired up Ubuntu Linux on the second SATA HD, and that is where I am typing now. Running Ubuntu 8.04 Beta. Everything is so far so good.
I connected Evolution to the exchange server, this took a long time but didn’t crash. I was glad for this because I have alot of emails in there and I have chocked down other email clients. My OST file is about 2.4 gigs.
I’ve got pidgin up and running so I can tap some friends minds in case I get stuck on anything.
Next for me is to get netbeans installed, and a subversion client so I can get to our code.
