Fridays are fridays

Well I didn’t have a good linux day today. Hopefully monday will bring better luck.

My Nvdia 8600gt showed up and I promply put it in the box and tried to install Hardy heron 8.04 , everything loaded fine, however after downloading all the updates, and there is alot 395 I think, I tried to load the new Nvdia drivers and then the required restart. on boot the monitors went black. :( Restart again black. Use grub to get into recovery, rebuild the x config file boots fine, load drivers, restart again black… I guess what can I expect it is alpha afterall. So if you have a 8600gt you might want to wait for at least the beta before you try and upgrade.

I decide to go and try to install 7.10 . start the install it gets to about 80% and tells me something is bad on my CD. I’ve installed lots with this cd so I try again…… same thing :( So now I’m downloading a new iso to make a new cd and retry to install 7.10

Oh well you can’t have all good days
