Linux likes nvidia

By jelly | March 13, 2008

One thing I can confirm now from building a couple of ubuntu boxes.  Ubuntu likes nvidia way more than ATI.   I’ve had a problem getting the screens configured correctly with ATI boards but so far nvidia ones have flown through easily.

I’m waiting until my new nvidia board gets delivered on friday and then I will be converting my computer over to Ubuntu and then I’ll really start testing what can and cannot be done with it in a work environment.  I’m going to install 8.04 on mine as a test since I can always go back to vista if I need to.

I’m not going to dual boot my drive I’ve put an entire new SATA in the box and one will be Linux and one will be Windows.  That way I just need to vary the boot priority in the Bios to switch between OS.

The standard way of dual booting works fine, but I have never figured out how to undo it, I’m sure you could repartition it using some 3rd party ap but running seperate drives for me is easier, I can switch when ever I want and if I want to go 100% linux or 100% windows I can.
