google wave update

By jelly | November 10, 2009

biggest pain for me now is the paste fuction.

It doesn’t work very good and always inserts a bunch of extra lines so I end up having to go back in and edit it.

The archive function I believe should take the item out of the inbox and put it in an archived folder but it doesn’t.  Actually I’m not sure what it does but it doesn’t remove it from the inbox so to get things out of there you are forced to delete them.  Once again being able to drag and drop waves to other folders or into other communications would work well for archive purposes however it doesn’t work that way.

Google Wave update

By jelly | November 9, 2009

So far so Good, however there are a few things that they really need to fix.

1. I can only paste text into the new wave window. It really needs to allow me to copy and paste images like I can in outlook. This is very beneficial when I’m talking to developers and need to include screen shots.

2. a secondary way to prioritize waves. or give one preference over another. right now the only way to sort is based on last comment date. We need a way to put something as priority over the other waves.

3. Ability to drag and drop waves, especially under other waves. We have had a few times where two people create different waves for the same things. We then have 2 conversations going and it gets confusing. you can put a link from one wave to another but they both keep going on their own. it would be nice to be able to drag it in and then it would be in there permanently so only one would get updated from then on.

Other than that it seems to be quite a good program. I’ve crashed it a couple times but not a big deal there. I got my invite from someone else and now after using it I have 8 invites that I can spread around so that will help to get people going on it.
I like having everything located in one place and its easy to keep up on things.

Google Wave

By jelly | November 5, 2009

I’m started using Google wave today and so far I’m happy with it.
We are going to use it at work as a collaboration tool. Mainly for myself, our product designers, and purchasers so we can track new products and keep informed about how things are going.

So far it works good, I’ll have more info as I use it on a daily basis.

First thing that I think they need to approve is sorting and organizing the waves. From what I can see so far the only way to sort them is by date of last posting.

One thing I like is I can put them waves into folders and color code them which is nice and makes it easy to tell which project it is on.

blackberry 9700

By jelly | November 4, 2009

I am still waiting for this phone, which is the first 3g Blackberry on tmobile.
I’ve waited patiently for 2 years for this phone now. Well patiently isn’t exactly true but at least it looks like it should be ready soon. It was supposed to be November 11th but now they are saying the 16th. The bad part about that is I’m out of town on the 16th through the 21st :( so maybe I’ll have to wait until later, or maybe I’ll have it delivered to my hotel room :)

another month and better fitness

By jelly | June 3, 2009

I haven’t updated this for a while. Well I’ve continued on with the good lunches. I don’t think I’ve had fast food in 2 months :) . I’ve also not had a coffee at work since then either. I have an occasional one at home on the weekends but mostly just if I got get one for the wife.
I’ve started playing hockey which is probably the best thing I could have done. it gets me a lot of exercise and burns a ton of calories.

I’ve hit my first big goal today, after hockey last night this morning I weighed 189.7 which is probably the first time I’ve been under 190 in 15 years.

I don’t have a hockey game scheduled for the next 2 weeks so I’m going to see if I can get a pickup game going somewhere.

health surprise

By jelly | April 28, 2009

I’ve been doing pretty good with getting minimal exercise. but I have been doing go about eating better at lunches. The weekends are kind of train wreck as I munch more and eat worse than I do during the week. Also I allow my self to drink on weekends so I’m sure how much that hurts.

Well today I got on the scale and had a big surprise. I only weighed 194.5
which would be a 2 pound drop from last week. I didn’t expect it, in fact after the weekend I kind of expected to go up. Hopefully it wasn’t something weird in the scale, I will trust it more if I’m the same weight or lower ;-) tomorrow.

update on health

By jelly | April 24, 2009

Well I’ve sort of got back into it, just in time for the weekend to throw everything back into disarray. I did about a 15 minute kettle bell work out last night, had a big dinner, and still in the morning, I’m down to 196.6.

So I’m still losing weight which is good, however I’m not noticing where it is coming from. I’m determined to either hike, ride, or run this weekend to see if I can speed this process up.

health

By jelly | April 23, 2009

With losing the power this weekend I kind of fell off everything. All the food was cooked in the micro and I was drinking beer because there was nothing else to do.

But I jumped on the scale today and I’m at 197.7
I did the wii fit a lot last night which probably helped and then I’m planning on doing kettle bells tonight. So hopefully I’ll be back on track

Weekend

By jelly | April 23, 2009

We got around 30″ of snow on the weekend.
Not the biggest deal since it was the weekend and I didn’t have to get out to go to work and could be home to plow and make sure we had a way to get out if we needed it to be
however that all changed when on friday night we lost power.
We have lost power before but the longest it has been was about 5 hours. This time it was for 2 1/2 days. Luckily we decided to buy a generator from home depot on saturday morning and it really saved us. It was kind of surreal sitting at home on sunday night with now electricity but watching tv while surfing the internet :)
